I also want to thank Jack and Pat McCabe for all of their work on this Avel Gathering. It was so much fun. My wife and I had a great time and getting to spend time with the other Aveler's and attendee's was awesome.

Another great AVEL gathering. Jack and Pat McCabe did a fantastic job of activity planning for the group. It was great seeing all fellow AVEL Veterans and their spouses once again, although the time seemed to fly by way to fast as usual.

I came across this website during a search of a ham radio callsign....I was in Company D-2 Student Brigade Fort Gordon from mid-Nov 1968 until May 31 1969. My MOS was 31J20 Teletype, but I bunked in a room with 5 of 8 people who were 35K20 avionics students. Bueter from PA, Sherwin from Seattle, Fitgerald from Lake George, Rodriques from Brownsville TX others. I was NG and never left the USA. dmped Army NG, went Air NG. Almost all 35k20s went on to NCO school at FG after AIT, then Viet Nam Village and APO San Francisco.....If you are ham look up W4FEB

Arrived Phu Loi 1or2Feb67, with 11 Cbt Ava Btl HHC Security Platoon, had a 11B20 Mos. Ate chow with 213th, pulled guard on the South and East perimeter line and Southeast gate. Changed jobs in May to driving truck for Officers/Ncos Mess hall and Officers/Ncos Club. Held job till about 24or25Jan68 got sucked back into Security because of TET. I was yelling to my sargent "I AM SHORT". He tells me get a rifle and pull guard. So right back where I started. Got to Bien Hour on 31Jan68 left Country 3Feb68, got credit for 1 year and 1 day.
I was telling a Vietnam Vet buddy this story, we both started laughing. 50 years and still SHORT!!
