WHEN WE CAME HOME

FOR MANY, THE VIETNAM WAR NEVER ENDED, IT JUST STOPPED.

In this work, Vietnam veterans from the United States and Australia share stories of their return from Vietnam, their adjustment and reintegration into a society that was alien to them. Many suffered the effects of PTSD and Agent Orange illnesses as well as other problems. Some adapted without a problem. This book is not about Vietnam. This book is about what happened to us when we came home.

No one came home the same. One day we were in a war zone and then a day or two later we were home. For the most part we came home to hostility or apathy. Most clammed up and didn’t talk about Vietnam. But PTSD reared its ugly head. Anger, alcohol, broken marriages, nightmares. Then the worst of all – Agent Orange. Cancers, heart disease, diabetes, lung problems, etc. Some were passed on to our children. All the while we fought the government and VA. We still fight.

Read the stories of those who were there and how the war changed them. Men and women alike.
