I was with the 8th Sig. Det. We arrived there as a unit on nov. 28, 1964. Joining the 69TH & 255th. I stayed till June of 67 when it was 2d plt, AESCS. I'M STIL TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT I CAN ABOUT LE THI MINH TRUCK. She worked for me in production control. Also, what happened to Chico? from the parts room? To update everyone on the conditions here in Charleston: The water is gone and Charleston is about back to normal. I checked and found that all restaurants, bars, shops will be open for business as usual. The hotel did not have any flooding issues. The Parris Island trip change is unfortunate but was necessary. Believe me we tried to keep it alive but because of the contract with the bus company and the timing of the change, and the likelihood of no seats being available when we would have arrived, it was necessary to change the busses for use in transporting our group to the Friday Evening event and then back to the hotel. The really good news no fear of DUI's going back to the hotel. I will be glad to share the details leading to the decision with everyone, but not here. You'd be asleep before you could read it all.

Here is a list of suggestions of things to do in Charleston and this is just scratching the surface. On Saturday there is a Farmers Market at Marion Square from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. South Carolina Aquarium, The Battery/White Point Garden, Old City Market, Middleton Place, Rainbow Row, King Street Shopping District, Waterfront Park, Fort Sumter, Boone Hall, Drayton, Hall, Magnolia Plantation, USS Hunley, Huguenot Church, Old Exchange & Provost Dungeon, USS Yorktown, Folly Beach, Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, Aiken-Rhett House. For me I just love walking around the Downtown Historic District.

thanks russ, we watched spook and the other gunships work on any given night and were very happy they were up there protecting us, even got to watch the tanks work but not so often. they were definitely a sight to behold and i still dream about them only not so often these days. was very glad when andy clued me in to this site.

We are on track to having the best attended reunion of all except the Wash., DC event. We have a crowd of over 80 people if all who have registered make it in October (46 registered plus guests). And we are still 2 1/2 months out. Given the number of people who usually wait until a little closer to the reunion to sign on, we expect a handful more registrants, whatever a handful is. This is going to be one of the best yet.
Jack is working hard to try to find some of the Red Cross "Donut Dollies" to attend, and might have found one who perhaps knows of more we can invite. I have come to know an Air Force guy who was maintenance crew member on one of the "Spooky" gunships. If you never saw Spooky in action, you missed a real show. I have invited him to attend since he is a Vietnam vet. Don't know yet if he's coming.
Looking forward to seeing all in October.
