Glad I brought my wife, she so enjoyed meeting friends from 40 years back. The presentation at the wall was superb and emotional for all. I wish we had found each other 20 years back, we have lost so much time. But we have another reunion coming up. Lets find some more of our brothers out there.

I finally made a reunion after 40 plus years. My wife, Patti and I really enjoyed our time with my AVEL buddies and the spouses who could make it. Spending much time with Pete and Bianca Biancalana was a special reunion. From Fort Gordon to Phu Loi to finally DC, Pete and I became good friends.
Also, Patti struck up a friendship with Gitta Parish who are now Facebook friends. Gitta's, beautiful and emotional poem placed an exclamation point on the reunion and summed up all our feelings. Excellent job, Gitta.
My only regret is that Gary Clark and Steve Aviza could not make it. Also, discovering that Mike Robb took his own life really hit hard.
To Jack, Russ, Jerry ,the liaisons and all who made the reunion possible- THANK YOU!
In addition, I sent an email regarding a Foundation called Tunnel to Tower which retrofits and builds new homes for returning service men and women who are amputees or severely disabled. Please contact me if you haven't received the information. It is a follow up to our dinner speaker's comments.
I am proud to have served with you ,my fellow Vietnam Vets.
Sincerely,
Dave

Finally got back home about 9 PM Hawaii time, that would be 6 hours back from DC time. I'm very glad that I attended this reunion, reconnecting with all the guys from last year and meeting up with more guys I had not seen in over 41 years. Thanks to Jack, Russ and Jerry for another well planned reunion.
This was my first time visiting the Wall and to experience the wreath ceremony with my fellow AVEL brothers was very emotional. And to top that, to be presented with the flag that was used in the ceremony was priceless. I will forever, always treasure these two moments.
Aloha and Mahalo, my fellow brothers, Welcome home.

Forgot to mention the orange bands. My wife told me she got a lot of interest at her exercise class this AM including two women who were widowed by Agent Orange, one told her that both her children were born with birth defects due to her husbands exposure.. Is there any way I can get two dozen more? I will gladly pay postage and costs for these. Let me know, either way. Thanx Al

Got home last night about 2330, long day. But what a wonderful experience. Something that we will never forget, Dawn my wife, Missy my niece, and of course myself. I would like to once more thank Jack, Russ, Jerry, Pete and of course all the other people involved who made this a memorable experience. I also want to thank all the AVEL veterans and their guests whom attended this great event. For me personally, it was an honor to carry the wreath at the ceremony. Thank you for your service and welcome home. We will see you all at Colorado Spring.

I would like to add my heartfelt thanks to all who worked on setting up and orchestrating this super reunion.
very special thanks to Jack for all his efforts over an above the reunion keeping us in touch and his tenacity in finding our lost brothers. It was so good to see all the crew, not just the ones from AVEL Central. Everything was perfect, the ceremony and visit to the memorials was very moving and a class operation. The food and lodging were exceptional. Cheers my friends. It was special to spend time with Joe Matos and meeting his darling wife. Hope all arrive safely home, we got in a little after 8PM. Sorry Linda and I did not get to see Jack and Pat before they left. Bob

I was with the 263rd from 1971-72. 35M I saw a comment from Sgt Folds who I remember from Red Beach. I spent several months in Chu-Lai as I was in 2nd platoon. If my memory serves me Folds and a few others played a little pool with me in the old day room. This brings back memories of a very interesting time in my life. I would love to hear from any of the guys with the 263rd. Sorta got me thinking of driving to DC for the reunion.

I'll be in San Antonio, TX during the VHCMA gathering this next June, 2014 between the 18th and 22nd of the month. All three helicopter books will be available at a deep discount: "U.S. Army Helicopter Names In Vietnam", "Vietnam War Helicopter Art" and "Vietnam War Helicopter Art, Vol 2".

Also, I'll share what info I have on surviving VN War Army helicopters (approx 1,000) that are presently on display in public museums, military bases and memorial parks across the 50 states. I've compiled a database list which you can view and luckily can help identify your old in-country bird. Hope to see you there.
