Hi to All My Brothers,
I want to say how much I enjoyed this years reunion. The venue was really great with a great Hospitality Suite and lots of pictures and for all those that relived the
good times we had together and to see how young we were back then. Meeting our friends for breakfast or dinner and seeing our wives enjoy each others company.
For those that haven't been able to get to the reunion yet, start planning for next years get to gether in Washington D.C.. I was in 3rd Platoon AVEL North in
Plieku at Camp Holloway. Believe me to see 8 Buddies that I spent 1968 and 1969 with, was great.

Thanks to the committee (Jack, Jerry, Russ) for having the reunion in Las Vegas so it was easier for myself and Rodney to attend. I had a GREAT time! Met up with friends I have not seen in 40 years and also made a lot of new friends. Special thanks to Greg & Gayle Garrison and Debbie Mahaney for allowing me to hang out with them and always inviting me for dinner. As this was my first reunion, I will always remember all the fun and exciting stuff that happened! Aloha and Mahalo my friends.

What a great reunion! I had a friend with me and every one made him feel so welcomed, Thanks. The golf was great, just a very nice course. To bad we did not have a couple of more groups to play. Next year should be fantasic, and I am so looking forward to it. Meet a lot of great people and saw some I too have not seen since 72,it was great. AND who hte freak is the Captain Avel Guy, he should run for office, all talk and no show. Thanks for a great time and will see all in D.C. where our golf team will go for three wins in a row!

What a fantastic reunion! Jerry, Russ, and Jack did a great job putting it all together. My wife, Dawn and I had a great time and were welcomed with open arms at our first reunion. We made lots of new friends and are looking forward to seeing them again. The Boulder Station Hotel/Casino was great as was the all the food and drink. We can't wait till the next one in DC. Oh, I almost forgot what a great birthday party we had for Russ in the Cucina Cucina Restaurant.

I don't know about anybody else but I had a fantastic time in Las Vegas. Saw five guys I had not seen since 1972, Bob Madore, Dennis Kanatake, Rodney Shimabukuro and Manny Coronel. Met a lot of new friends that I had never met before. Please everyone feel free to put your thoughts of the Reunion on the Avel Website and let us know how you thought it turned out.

Good to hear from Captain Avel and hopefully he will make his presence known at the Reunion in Las Vegas. Really looking forward to this years Reunion and seeing everyone from last years Reunion and all of the ones coming to an Avel Reunion for the 1st time. I really regret all of the ones that have had to cancel or just can't come to this years reunion but I want everyone to really start making plans now on coming to next years Reunion in Washington, DC. The Reunion Committee has already started the planning process and will let everyone know the details early so you can make your arrangements to attend. Roger Shiley we really are going to miss seeing you and Jane at this years Reunion but looking forward to seeing you both in Washington, DC.

So nice to be missed. Been out and about taking care of some insurgent sonsabitches in places I cannot disclose. Back in the states for R&R and for LRRP operation in advance of troop arrival 11 Oct. 2012 at our planned operations meeting in BLEEP-BLEEP. You all know the password, correct? Some statics I can share openly: Looks like we will have a group of about 80 . Weather will be hot, or at least quite warm...lows in the low 70's, highs in the mid 90's. WHAT? Don't you know it's the desert??
Stop eating on or about Oct. 8th because when you see the food available you're going to wish you had room for more.
I have arranged to have the smoking lamp lit....oops, that's for my Navy Seal buddies....I have arranged to have fine cigars made available to those who partake, right there in the hotel in the room I made them name "The Cigar Bar", right across from the hotel registration desk in the lobby. There will be a "Welcome Avel Vets" table set up at this location for arrivees to sign in and get your dog tags. After signing in and getting properly identified with your dog tags, you will be directed to an otherwise undisclosed, secret rendezvous point within the perimeter where you will meet up with other members of our platoon and be served beverages and c-rations till you puke.
That's all. Stand at ease.

LAST REMINDER: THE DEADLINE FOR GETTING OUR SPECIAL RATE FOR ROOMS IS SEPT. 11...NEXT TUESDAY. BE SURE TO TELL THEM YOU ARE WITH THE BCIAVEL (SECRET CODE WORD) GROUP TO GET THE SPECIAL RATE.
As of 8/31/12, we have 40 rooms reserved for a total of 69 guests. We now have 47 vets registered, most of whom have paid their reunion dues. We know of two or three who are staying elsewhere, so it seems there might be a few who need to MOVE IT! MOVE IT! and get their room reservations done.
If everyone comes who are now registered, including wives, we will have 77 people, which exceeds last years crowd. Good show, guys.
