Hey, Jack: Do you need another photo of people who attended last year's reunion?

Hey reunion goers: So you'll know, those of us who did not send Jack a photo of self and wife last year had substitute photos inserted in their ID badges. Several guys looked just like John Wayne in "THE GREEN BERETS". This year, we're using LARRY, CURLY AND MOE photos as substitutes...Ya better send him one of yourself.

Hey Captain Avel: you ain't got a hair on your ass if you don't come out from behind that mask and phone booth and reveal yourself (NOT expose youeself).

Good question, Leon. I will be at the reunion, ingognito, of course, disguised as a regular civilian type. My identity is so unknown, so secret, that even I am not sure who I am.

But I will be amongst you, ever watchful and alert, on guard against any foe, protecting my troopers, charming all the ladies, assuring all of the best times of their lives. I'll be looking for YOU! (at this point, you're supposed to have this vision of the old UNCLE SAM poster, pointing a finger in your face.)

Capt Avel has this place down pat! I been to it several times and have always walked away a winner. Get you cards ASAP. I am not sure about the naked ladies walking down hall, but it could happen so bring your blue pills just in case , or duct tape and tongue depressors depending on your insurance plan!.

Glad to see some of you are awake enough to recognize that you don't recognize the name. I wish to share with you some detailed information about the reunion hotel I collected while on LRRP duty in Vegas recently.
Boulder Station Hotel & Casino is an off-strip hotel with many great features (this is going to be lengthy):
8 restaurants: THE BROILER....prime grade steaks and seafood.
CABO...Mexican restaurant.
THE GRAND CAFE.
THE FEAST BUFFET...3 meals a day served. This is the place you get a great discount simply by having a "Boarding Pass" gaming card, which is provided at no cost to you. You just have to ask for one when you check in, and you don't have to use it for gambling to still get the discount at this restaurant. Just present the card when you pay for your meals.
PASTA CUCINA ITALIAN RESTAURANT.
SLICES, pies by the slice and combo meals.
VIVA SALSA...mexican fast food, like burritos, tacos, etc.
BURGER KING.
ALL OF THESE ARE WITHIN THE HOTEL/CASINO COMPLEX.
GAMING: They operate a 24 hr. casino. They have over 2800 slot and video poker machines, some penny and two cent machines, even. They claim to be better odds and looser slots than the strip.
574 seat BINGO hall.
30 seat live KENO lounge.
33 gaming tables including blackjack, roulette, mini-bacarat, craps, wierd poker and other card games.
Also, an eleven table 24 hr. poker room with smoking and non smoking tables.
Race & sports booking.
THE RAILHEAD lounge with live entertainment.
KIXX BAR with live entertainment Fri. and Sat.
BREWERS BAR, with 12 different tap handles. 24 oz. draft for $5.00
TEQUILA BAR..."Tequila makes her clothes fall off".
CIGAR BAR, The HAVANNA LOUNGE with billiards and premium cigars.
And if all else doesn't grab you, they have an 11 screen movie complex operated by Regal Cinemas. I wonder if they'll screen "Platoon"? Willem Defoe kinda reminds me of meself as a young warrior, hey hey.
Got to didimau. I'll be looking for you in Vegas in October.

ok, ok. I admit, I had my hooch maid iron his cape one time but he never took that damn mask, so i don't know who he is. I heard him mention having a phone booth in every village in RVN, so that was most likely he who you saw...he got around.

Leon, Captain Avel is a mysterious, shadowy figure in AVEL Central mythology. He seems familiar to me but I can't quite put my finger on it. Russ Mason is working on uncovering his true identity. Hopefully he will come forward at the Reunion in Las Vegas.

Who is Captain avel?

Yo Marvin York, I already know that Bill Biggs, Orbin Hall and Aaron Bass are signed up for the 2nd Annual John Veers Martini Golf Outing. They want to know if your are in and if you have stopped blading the ball. If not they still will let you play in their foursome. you will just have to pay for all the beers.

Just a note to advise that the reunion registration is moving along well. As of this moment, we have 37 vets registered with 21 guests, so we are already a group of 58. Go ahead and register, and reserve your room at the hotel, and don't forget to send me your checks made out to "Avel Reunion". Looks like we're going to have a great turnout. Don't miss it.

My memory is not good but I think the Morality Patrol (MP's) came out of one of Bill Fesus's JPS Meetings. Joe Kaminski, John Veers and Greg Garrison after a night of drinking and listening to John Philip Sousa music came to the conclusion it would be funny to snap pictures of the taxi girls and their clientele on the Avel compound. Surely somewhere is a picture of Nick Montecinos chasing a . Oops I digress that is a story for the Reunion and would have to be in Nick's presence. Also at the Reunion this year I would like to have Gary Clark lead us all in a rousing rendition of "UP in the air Junior Birdmen".

Russ,I would say during a normal stay in Las Vegas that it would be quite possible but October 11th through the 14th there will be several members of the Avel Central 1971-1972 Morality Patrol in attendance and armed with their camera's they are a very vigilant group. You can look back at the pictures from Avel Central 1971-1972 and see how effective they were against the local taxi girls. With the Morality Patrol on guard What happens in Vegas probably won't stay in Vegas.
